For departments and for instructors
Work with me as a department, faculty or AI task force, or join as an individual instructor. Everything is delivered online, built on your own courses, and grounded in care, delight and evidence.
Departments, faculties and task forces
Most work begins with a Build Lab and its Snapshot, so whatever comes next is built on what your own faculty said.
The Build Lab
90 minutes online
Care, delight and evidence, then everyone builds one piece for a course they teach. Followed by your department's Snapshot.
Start here
Departmental Intensive
Two 3-hour online sessions
Built on your courses and your assessment questions. The days between sessions give faculty time to try what they built. Everyone leaves with a working tool and a redesigned assessment for one unit.
Term Programme
Three online sessions across a term
Build support between sessions, then a closing online showcase where faculty share what they built and what their students said about it.
Policy-to-Practice Review
For an AI task force or working group
A 90-minute session with your task force and a small faculty panel. We apply the three-question lens to your draft, clause by clause, and I follow up with suggested course-level wording.
App Access
For a department
Use of apps from the suite in your own courses, chosen from what your faculty said they need.
Faculty-Wide Partnership
Across a semester or a year
Regular strategy sessions with leadership, a monthly faculty masterclass, and a course-level AI practice guide written with you.
The Beyond the Grade Builder Cohort
For instructors who want to build for their own students. Eight weeks online with a small cohort, starting in January, May or September so it never lands mid-term. Graduates are Faculty Builders.
Builder Cohort: Core
Short recorded lessons plus a weekly live build call. Over eight weeks you build a check-in, an activity your students enjoy, and an assessment that shows the thinking, for a course you are teaching.
Builder Cohort: Build Track
Everything in Core, plus small-group build clinics and a personal review of your finished app. Limited to 12 people per cohort.
The first cohort begins in 2027. It is taught live and shaped week by week by what participants ask for. Join the list at join.balogun.prof to hear when it opens.
What each step does for your institution
Care, delight and evidence each answer a different question institutions are asking right now.
Care
MoodPulse · PostScript · Ovation
Students feel noticed, and instructors reach the student who is slipping before a grade shows it. That supports retention and wellbeing.
Who it helps: Student success teams, first-year programmes and the instructors who teach them.
Delight
AURA · Scientific Method Explorer · EarthOS · the challenge library
Courses become something students want to explore, and faculty gain hands-on confidence with AI-era tools.
Who it helps: Instructors, course teams and programmes renewing their courses.
Evidence
OBSIDIAN · STRATA · Tidewater · Common Sense
Assessment shows how students think, not just what they scored, so AI policy becomes classroom practice.
Who it helps: Chairs, Associate Deans, Deans and academic integrity offices.
From policy to practice
Many universities are writing their AI frameworks through task forces and working groups. The hardest part is often turning principles into assignments, check-ins and grading that work for students.
That is where I work: what happens in a course when a policy lands, and whether it works for students. I also publish short practice briefs on what instructors ask for in Build Labs, with institutions unnamed.
The three-question lens
A test any task force can apply to each clause of a draft.
Care: Does this clause protect the relationship between instructor and student, including privacy, and avoid making students feel watched?
Delight: Does it leave room for teaching students enjoy, or does it push courses towards surveillance and suspicion?
Evidence: Does it help instructors see real learning, rather than relying on detection tools or on assessment formats AI can complete?
When you want a tool built for your course
Some departments want a tool of their own, built around their content and their students.
Walkthrough
A 30-minute tour of OBSIDIAN, STRATA and EarthOS, to see whether a custom tool is the right next step.
Prototype
A working prototype with one module of your course content.
Full build
A complete tool for your course or programme, delivered in stages.
Academic web presence
Faculty portfolio sites, course landing pages and departmental websites.
What you can count on
Built on your courses
Every session uses your faculty's own courses and assessment questions, not generic demos.
Grounded in your faculty's voice
Recommendations come from what your own faculty said, summarised in the Snapshot.
Online by default
No travel, rooms or catering to arrange, and sessions timed for your time zone.
Care that stays private
Check-ins are anonymous by default, never used for monitoring, and checked against your privacy rules first.
Start with your faculty's own answers.
A Build Lab and its Snapshot show what your faculty need, so every next step is built around them.
